Welcome to the Instituto Cultural Autónomo
Rubén Jaramillo!
The idea for the Institute arose in 1999. Don Félix felt that the young were losing the human values that our parents
had passed on (for example, the saludo "quiubo güey". At first, he considered putting up only a roof for a library
and chatting with the teenagers. As the idea matured, he decided to create the Institute and Hector Valle donated
part of his land to build the Institute alongside Don Félix´s house.
The Autonomous Cultural Institute of Rubén Jaramillo was founded in January, 2003, in the city of Jojutla de Juàrez,
in the state of Morelos, under the leadership of Félix Sedan Najera. Others continued joining the project,
and together they founded a non-profit association.
Don Félix and his wife, Emilia
This is a project for the promotion and dissemination of music, visual arts, drama, dance, literature, architecture
and cinematography.
As described in the Institute´s statues: "Our object is to foster and preserve our local, regional, and national history.
We also want to bring together children, young people, and adults in the practice of civic values like democracy,
respect, honesty, sincerity, love for one another, and also chivalry."
Our specific projects include socio-educational programming and civic cultural festivals, as well as theatre, dance, poetry,
recitation, and public speaking. We orient our projects around ecological themes
relavent to the creation of an alternative culture that protects the environment.
We invite you to join us! If you want to learn more about our programs, please call Don Félix at: (01 - 734) 3 - 41 - 17 - 08.
